WEB BASED

Mint.com is a web-based financial software that pulls all of your financial information under one roof.  It has a powerful budgeting tool and is my tool of choice when it comes to managing our personal finances – best of all…IT’S FREE!  PROMO VIDEO

Adaptu is currently in Beta and offers a very similar platform to mint.com.  Adaptu’s “selling point” is the community of users its building, with incredible discussion boards for all things financial (and it’s free too!)  PROMO VIDEO

Both mint.com and adaptu use Yodlee on the back end to securely pull your financial information from the different institutions, yet they also offer a consumer finance app that provides the same tools you’ll find in mint and adaptu.  The user interface isn’t as “pretty” but it gets the job done.  It also provides you the ability to pay bills and transfer funds, but doesn’t have a strong budgeting tool.

PC/MAC BASED

If you can’t get comfortable with having your financial information secure in the cloud, here are a few software based solutions for you -

Still the most trusted name in personal finance management, you can’t go wrong with Quicken’s software suite of products.  The benefit to using Quicken or other pc/mac based software is the ability to reconcile your accounts, pay bills, transfer funds, etc.  With the web based tools above, you’ll need to maintain an online banking account for those tasks.  The trade-off, you have to pay for the software.

The most powerful mac-based personal finance software.  Does everything Quicken can do, with that clean mac look and feel you’ve come to love and expect.
